DKIM
DKIM is a security method used to authenticate email messages. To set up DKIM, you need access to the administrator account for your email. Below is how to do it on our mail server.
- Log in to webmail as an administrator
- In the top menu, click More > Domain settings and then General. Under "Email signing", click "Enable"
- This value needs to be added as a TXT record via the DNS manager. Copy and paste the "TXT record name" and then the "TXT record value". Then click save
- Once it has been added to the zone file via the DNS manager, it will be activated and if everything is correct this box will appear and you're all done.
SPF
SPF specifies which email server or servers the domain is allowed to send from. If you use us as your email provider, the following TXT record must be present in the zone file:
v=spf1 a mx a:smtp2.smartemail.se a:smtp3.smartemail.se a:smtp4.smartemail.se mx:mail.smartemail.se -all
If you use a different provider, check with them for the correct values.
DMARC
DMARC is an additional email security method that builds on SPF and DKIM, so configure this after SPF and DKIM are set up and working.
DMARC is configured in the zone file. Add the following TXT record and default values:
_dmarc.yourdomainname TXT "v=DMARC1; p=none;"
p: You can choose from the following: none, quarantine or reject
rua: Specify which email address should receive feedback: mailto:youremailaddress
Example: v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; rua=mailto:dmarcreport@yourdomainname.se
