About this tool

DNS is the internet's phone book. When someone visits your website or sends you an email, their computer looks up the domain's DNS records to find out which server to talk to.

This tool queries DNS directly and shows the records as they appear right now. A and AAAA point to the web server, MX shows where email is delivered, TXT contains things like SPF and verification codes, and NS shows which name servers control the domain.

If you have recently changed a record, it may take a while before the change is visible everywhere, depending on the record's TTL. Use the DNS propagation tool to see how far the change has spread.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn't my new DNS record showing up?

Other DNS servers cache the response for as long as the record's TTL specifies, often an hour. Wait a while, or check that the record has been saved with whoever manages your name servers.

What is the difference between A and CNAME?

An A record points to an IP address. A CNAME points to another name, which in turn has an A record. A CNAME cannot be placed on the root domain itself, only on subdomains.

Can I change DNS records here?

No, this tool is read-only. If your DNS is with Admax, you can change records in the customer portal, where Domain Assistant can do it for you.
